Junior 5 and 6 Project Books

Just a quick note regarding the Science Project books.  I have asked the students to label them Science 1 and Science 2.  As soon as we finish with one, we will start using the other.  Any students who prefer to bring Science 2 later may do so, as long as they bring it on time, that is, when Science 1 is almost full.   I thought it would be easier to collect both at the beginning of the year so that we will have them available when we need them.

Thank you very much for your support in buying the supplies for your children.

Mystery bird revealed

Congratulations to all those students who spent some time doing some research to find out the name of our mystery bird!!  It is the Black-capped Chickadee also known as the Grey-capped Chickadee or the Siberian Tit.  We will learn more about this amazing creature in the near future.

Here’s another picture of our mystery bird. Can anybody else guess what it is called?

Mystery bird?

Can you identify the bird in the picture at the top of this page?  Hint — it lives in Ontario, Canada.  Send me a message if you know the answer.

Junior 4s – Pictures of food

Hello Junior 4s – I look forward to meeting you!

If you have the time, please start collecting pictures of food items (healthy and unhealthy). You may find these in old magazines.  We will also need the list of ingredients and nutrition information from food products, such as, cereals, pasta, etc.  You may ask your parents to help you cut these out and keep them in a paper or plastic bag, labelled with your name.  I will be talking about this in class during the first week.  Please do not bring the whole package of food – just the section that has the nutrition information and ingredients.  Thank you for your support – looking forward to some fun activities!

Junior 6s – Pictures of celebrities

Hello Junior 6s!  I look forward to meeting you and enjoying some Science activities with you.

If you have the time, please start looking for some pictures of your favourite actor, athlete, singer, artist, author, etc. We will also need pictures of food (healthy and unhealthy), and of people participating in a sport, or any other physical activity, such as walking.  Also, before throwing any food packages away, please cut out the ingredients/nutrition information section.

Thank you and see you soon!
